Speech Topic #1:
Better than Drugs and Alcohol for College Students: What to say "Yes" to that will make you want to say "No" to Alcohol and Drugs

An alcohol and drug awareness speech by a professional musician whose been in top name bands and knows first hand the dangers of abusing drugs and alcohol. Do you know how college students sometimes ruin their college career, health, finances, relationships and even die from overdoses or alcohol/drug related accidents? Dennis Marcellino's "Better Than Alcohol and Drugs" speech shows students how to not be vulnerable to falling into the tragedies that often come from abusing alcohol and drugs. Dennis' speech includes "sobering" facts on the real dangers associated with abusing alcohol and drugs. But realizing that people are often driven more by feelings than logic, he also addresses the real emotional causes behind most alcohol and drug abuse. He has some moving pertinent personal stories to share as well. Dennis is the author of Sweeping It Under The Drug and Addiction Free Forever.

Dennis' speech is:
• Informative:
Details the dangers involved in abusing alcohol and recreational drugs, why some students overdo drinking and taking drugs, and better alternatives.
• Inspirational: You can't expect a student who is abusing drugs or is addicted to alcohol to say "no" to getting high unless they have something better to say "yes" to. Dennis shares some alternatives he's found that are much better things to say "yes" to. This includes analyzing why people use and abuse alcohol and drugs, and why the better "yeses" are not just better, but great, choices.
• Entertaining: Includes relevant, interesting personal stories from Dennis's interesting life as a celebrity musician and past member of some top name bands, plus Dennis can include music as part of his presentation if desired. One suggestion is that he always gets a very positive response when he performs "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" as a past member of the band who had that hit.

"Celebrity musician, Dennis Marcellino, gives students vital information about alcohol and drugs, a clear vision and positive motivation on how to have a great life in college and afterwards without abusing or getting hooked on alcohol and drugs."

This speech includes:
• How to protect yourself from being harmed by alcohol and drug use
• WHY students sometimes abuse alcohol and drugs and natural, alternative solutions
• The price students pay for trying to get high unnaturally (natural backlashes of “stolen euphoria”)
• Personal stories of drug use gone bad, leading to a lot of pain (which is the opposite of what is being sought with alcohol and drugs), even ruining entire lives from just one use. And as a former member of some very famous bands, Dennis has seen a number of his colleagues die from drug use and shares a little behind the scenes relevant stories.
• From Dennis’ career in entertainment, he lists seven reasons why celebrities become addicted.
• As a college student himself for many years (210 units over the course of many years), Dennis tells how to be “high” naturally and live an inspired life.
• The superiority of “peace and love” over impulsiveness and cheap thrills, and why it was the hippie anthem.
“Wonderful is what you’ll feel in you, when you do the things you’re made to do”. Dennis shares a technique for discovering who you really are and what your true inspirations are.
• The most important thing you need to know before making a decision: what the heart and instinct will and won’t support
• Dennis' method for ending an addiction or a propensity for abusing alcohol or drugs (called “Addiction Free Forever”) that doesn’t require going to a rehab clinic or a counselor. Many have said that this is better than the 12 step method or forced behavior-modification.

Speech Topic #2: How College Students Can Improve Their Confidence, Self-Esteem and Performance
Many college students struggle with shyness or being overly intimidated by others in some area of their lives whether it is in business or personal relationships. This speech gives students tips on getting over shyness, being assertive but not aggressive, having appropriate boundaries, and tips on performance and public speaking. As a professional musician Dennis started out as a very shy person on stage and off, always afraid to be and reveal his true self and feelings. This progressed to years spent suffering with agoraphobia. He's conquered these fears and insecurities into having a successful career as a musician ... even a front man on stage... and a speaker, having performed on the biggest stages, being a guest on many TV shows and radio, and even performing in front of 350,000 people at Cal Jam II in Southern California while a member of his own band, Rubicon. In this speech he passes on how that transition can be made and how a person can feel confident on stage and in life with others.

Speech Topic #3: A “Major” Decision: Choosing the Right Major for You
Picking a major in college is a more crucial decision than most realize. So many come out of college having spent many years and a lot of money (or are deeply in debt) just to discover that they really aren’t inspired to work in the field they chose. This speech takes a sober look at the dilemma of picking a major and gives some techniques that will tell the student what the best major is for them to pick ... one that was not only chosen by their mind, but that their heart will also support.

Other speech topics: Dennis can tailor make these and other topics to fit your group or event as well as add music to his presentation if desired. "...frank and friendly... sincere and optimistic... not only concerned with ridding people's lives of drugs, but also with leading them to a higher state of being and greater fulfillment as individuals... a sympathetic voice which will affect readers for the better... This book is personal rather than systematically therapeutic or a 'pop' treatment of a current social concern...touches upon the important factors of human life---the self, environment, relationships, mates, and others."
Corinne Perry Buck, The Small Press Book Review ('feature' review)

"I highly recommend the reading of this book as an understanding guide for all of the 12 step recovery programs. It gave me greater insight into my need for continuous spiritual development in order to maintain quality sobriety and peace of mind."
Gloria Montgomery, founder of RECOVERY SYSTEMS and many alcohol & chemical dependency rehab centers & hospital clinics in U.S. & Canada.
"This book is absolutely --WONDERFUL! I could not put it down until I had read all of it. It is one of the most fascinating books I have read in years. One thing is certain ... Dennis Marcellino is a very talented and creative writer."
